A Way Out is a co-op adventure game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. We’ll be discussing 10 games like A Way Out.
In the game, you play as one of four inmates being released from prison after their sentence ends. The goal of the game is to break out of one of the two prisons that were constructed for them to secure their freedom and reconnect with the ones they left behind.
It is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game with a heavy focus on stealth and puzzle-solving. The player must combine stealth (e.g., hiding from enemies who actively seek to kill them) with observation (e.g., searching for clues to solve puzzles to progress).
You and your partner will have to work together to escape the prison while avoiding getting killed by the many guards who patrol the penitentiary.

Players working as survivors will have to find and fix generators to power the exit gate and escape, while the killer must hunt down and kill the survivors before they can escape the level.
Similar to A Way Out, players can choose to play as one of eight killers, each with unique characteristics. The game has been praised for its replay value and use of psychological horror themes.
2. Super Meat Boy
Super Meat Boy is a 2D puzzle-platformer video game developed by Team Meat and published by Team Meat.
It was released on October 24, 2010, for Microsoft Windows and followed an unnamed character as they attempt to save their girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from an evil fetus named Baby Fetus.
Players progress through the game completing puzzles to keep Bandage Girl while avoiding obstacles. It was well-received by critics, who praised its challenging and rewarding gameplay. It’s a little like A Way Out.
3. Dying Light: The Following
It is a sequel to 2013’s Dying Light, also developed by Techland. Following the events of the base game, players assume control of Kyle Crane, an undercover operative seeking to infiltrate the Old Town. The expansion pack was released in February 2017 and added new story missions, gameplay mechanics, and a map that is four times as large as the original map.
You play as an investigative reporter who was sent with his wife to investigate the murder of a pregnant woman. You explore the area, using a camera with night-vision, to find clues and uncover the mystery. You also have to fend off a cult trying to grab your soul.
5. The Walking Dead: The Final Season
From the creators of the Game of the Year award-winning The Walking Dead: Season One and Season Two comes an emotionally powerful, all-new third season of this critically-acclaimed series. For Clementine, all hope seems lost. Starved and exhausted, she has nothing left to fight for – until she meets a little girl named Maya.
It is an action-adventure stealth video game set in Dunwall, a fictional, industrial whaling city-state in the Empire of Isles, and is based on the novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles. Players take on the role of Corvo Attano, Royal Protector to Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, who an unknown party has deposed. The player sets out to explore Dunwall and uncover more about who is behind Jessamine’s fall from power and restoring it.
7. Watch Dogs 2
It is a sequel to the 2012 video game, Watch Dogs. The player assumes the role of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker and former government-sponsored assassin who left his life of crime behind to fight for good in society. It is set in a modern-day city where Aiden must use his hacking abilities to wreak havoc on the city’s infrastructure and take down those who wronged him.
8. The Last of Us
It is a post-apocalyptic third-person action-adventure game with a blend of survival, stealth, role-playing, and platforming gameplay elements. In 2033, twenty years after a fungal outbreak has ravaged much of civilization, the game follows Joel and Ellie—two survivors who travel west hoping to find a sanctuary free from the infection. The Last of Us Remastered was released on July 29, 2014. The Remaster features higher resolution textures, rendering upgrades, and improved shadows and lighting.
9. Sleeping Dogs
Sleeping Dogs was an open-world crime sandbox video game that put players in the role of a police officer Wei Shen, tasked with going undercover and infiltrating a Triad organization to root out its leader. Sleeping Dogs received positive reviews, with praise mainly directed at the melee combat, voice acting, and world design.
10. The Evil Within
The Evil Within is a survival horror third-person shooter video game. It generally received positive reviews upon release, with most praise for its atmosphere and gameplay, but it received criticism for its technical issues and dated graphics. It involves the player controlling detective Sebastian Castellanos as he uncovers the disturbing truth behind the appearance of a mysterious, seemingly supernatural force that is wreaking terror throughout a mental hospital.
