Animal crossing lets you play as a human walking around a town filled with animals, talking about the latest gossip, and collecting fruit which you sell for more fruit. While it may not be quite as addictive as religion, it does have some similar features to other mobile games. Here are 10 games that will keep your obsession with Animal Crossing under control.

Games like Animal Crossing

1. Garden Paws

Garden Paws is heavily inspired by Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, both in its charming visuals and addictive slice-of-life gameplay. After inheriting a farm from your grandparents, it’s up to you to build up the town to unlock its full potential. You can play as a diverse selection of characters, including a horse, dog, cat, human, and even a dragon. Just like with Metroidvanias, the world is filled with a huge variety of anthropomorphic characters to befriend, though, sadly, you can’t hit those you dislike with a net.

2. Stardew Valley

Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley are both easy-to-learn games that you can play at your own pace. You can meet lots of friendly people, raise animals, grow crops, mine, fish, gather resources, and take part in seasonal events and crafts. Although not plot-centric by any means, games like Stardew Valley do offer a simple story you can follow at your own pace.

3. Hokko Life

After falling asleep on the train and missing your stop, you arrive in the delightful animal-run town of Hokko. There are a decent number of character customization options to play about, including the ability to change your hairstyle, eye, skin, and hair colour.

4. My Time at Portia

My Time At Portia is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where you play as a builder who can craft an array of objects and contraptions to fulfill commissions and improve the town. Crafting is your main money maker in the beginning, but it won’t be long until you can engage in other activities like growing crops, raising animals, fishing, collecting relics, mining, and even fighting some baddies for valuable loot. Although combat is needed to advance the story, you can avoid engaging in it if you’d rather focus on other tasks and building your relationships with the town’s residents.

5. Alchemy Story

Animal Crossing fans will love Alchemy Story thanks to its friendly atmosphere and casual gameplay. Players will craft useful potions and elixirs, complete quests, and tend to animals like sheep, cows, and chickens to gain rare ingredients.

6. Younder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles

It’s an Animal Crossing game without combat or death, so you can peacefully wander the environments and complete objectives at your own leisure. There are eight biomes to explore, from sandy beaches to majestic snowy mountain ranges, as well as many activities to do.

7. Spiritfarer

This heartwarming adventure game is perfect for animal lovers. You’re a ferry master to the dead and as you cross the river Styx, you encounter plenty of quirky and fun spirits to interact with.

8. Ooblets

Ooblets combines the best of Animal Crossing and Pokémon, allowing you to collect adorable creatures and explore vibrant lands. Alongside dance-offs, the other gameplay cores are quests, farming, and home management.

9. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town

The newest entry in the Story of Seasons series, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is a farming sim game for the Nintendo 3DS that follows the story of an Animal Crossing fan who moves to a rural town and eventually revitalizes it. For Animal Crossing fans, this title will provide an additional gameplay loop and enrich their experience.

10. The Sims 4

If you like designing your town and home in Animal Crossing, The Sims 4 will blow you away. In Build Mode, you can create houses using your imagination or replicate your favourite movie, TV show, video game characters, etc. You can also customize how the sims look by changing their hairstyles, their outfits, and more – that’s how details The Sims 4’s Create a Sim is, even more so when used with mods.
