In the dark side of the city, chess loving scientist created supernatural drugs that gives specific power based on each chess pieces. Here’s a list:

In the skill tree interface, you can upgrade or unlock new abilities for your weapons, shield, or chess pieces with crowns (upgrade points) which you can get by leveling up. For example, if you upgrade the knight chess piece, you can unlock super jump. Another example, if you upgrade your shield, it can take more damage.

Note: Upgrading is not necessary, you can finish the game without upgrading at all.
