The fight is the game

Most fishing games resolve a fish with a meter or a button prompt. This one runs a physical simulation thirty times a second: the rod's curve, the drag slipping, the line stretching and taking abrasion, and a fish with its own stamina, temper and idea of where it would rather be.

That has one consequence worth stating plainly. A lost fish is always traceable to something you did — wound in against a run, held the rod where it could not cushion, set the clutch on a line already worn by a snag. There is no dice roll to blame.

One lake, and everything in it

Six species, each with their own weight range, speed and behaviour, in water that has depth, weed, snags and a bed. Where you cast matters. What you feed matters. The hour of the day and the sky overhead change what is feeding and what is willing.

Tackle you commit to

Choose a way of fishing — float, ledger or lure — then the rod, reel, line and bait that suit it. Every combination is a real trade: a heavier line survives a snag and puts fish off; a soft rod protects a hook-hold and costs you control. You lock your choice before the whistle and live with it.

Then there is the drag, and it is the decision that decides matches. Set it light and a fish runs where it likes; set it hard and the line goes before the fish does. The right answer is different for every line you could have tied on, and you are setting it with a fish already moving.

Matches, not leaderboards

Host a match for up to eight anglers on one lake. Everybody fishes the same water, stocked the same way, arriving in the same order — so what separates two anglers is what they did, not what turned up. Set a length, a scoring format, or name a target species and make it a hunt.

Or open the session, drop the clock and the scoring, and just fish. The lake outlives whoever opened it.

A record book that remembers

Every fish you land goes in your book with its weight, where it came from and what it took. Personal bests, species you have never met, and a specimen grid that quietly tells you how good that carp actually was.
