It's autumn and the leaves are beginning to brown. Meike, a young woman who lives and works in the German city of Augsburg, wishes she could enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the balmy weather, but she has a problem. Meike's parents are determined to set her up with the wealthy young entrepeneur, Walter: a man who, at the age of thirty-two, successfully founded his own company and exudes self-confidence. Meike's mother, in particular, is determined to see her daughter married, and Meike is being harangued into a relationship with this man she does not love. Tired and stressed, Meike decides to escape Walter one day by ducking into a quaint Victorian-inspired café where her friend, Henny, works... But, in her visit to Café of Roses, Meike meets a young woman who will change the course of her life forever. Who is the mysterious Magdalena, with her fair hair and her red eyes, and why does she look so familiar...?
