You'll choose your favorite Primary shot like laser beams. Then choose your favorite charge weapon like a homing shot.  Finally the last piece in your loadout is your special weapon, like a smart bomb that can lock on to targets and 'clear the screen' so to speak. Throughout your run you will have to decide what mechanics to combine and what weapons and effects feel the most natural based on your combat style.
