Games Like Splatt

Overview

Splatt is a competitive online obstacle racer for two to four players, built on one cruel idea: you have to carry something fragile to the finish line, and everything about the course wants to make you drop it.

Every racer is handed an egg. Get it to the finish intact and you score full points. Show up empty-handed and you score half. There is no team, no shared objective and nobody to blame — the player who moves cleanest across three rounds wins the session, and every broken egg leaves a coloured splat on the track that stays there for the rest of the night as evidence.

The Core Tension: Speed vs. Cargo

Splatt is a race, but it is not a game about being fastest. It is a game about how much risk you can carry.

Movement

A physics-driven character, not a character on rails. You run, sprint and jump through open, natural courses where momentum and contact with the world are real, and where recovering a bad landing is a skill in itself. Going faster is always available to you. Whether your egg survives it is another question.

Wildcards

Each course seeds a batch of wildcard boxes before every round, and their contents are rolled fresh each time — so a route you memorised last round can betray you this one. Roughly a third turn out to be traps. Each box can catch every player once per round, so watching a rival hit one tells you exactly what's waiting for you.

Session Structure

A session is three rounds across the courses you choose, and usually runs between ten and twenty minutes. Points are awarded by finishing position — 10 for first, then 6, 4 and 2 — plus a bonus for arriving with your egg, or half the total if you don't. Scores carry across all three rounds, so a disastrous round is survivable and a consistent racer beats a streaky one.

Rounds start once everyone has stepped onto the staging platform, with a five-minute limit as a hard backstop. Players choose the next course together at the holotable in the hub between rounds. Fall off the world and you're returned to the hub automatically — the run continues without you while you climb back in.

Drips and the Wardrobe

Everything you score also becomes Drips: a permanent currency that follows your account, not the session.

Spend them in the hub wardrobe, where you dress your racer across five slots — hat, shirt, pants, shoes and accessory — and recolour any piece from a palette of twelve. Your outfit saves to the cloud and travels with you into every lobby, so the other three players always know exactly who just splattered.

Since one of the traps drains Drips directly, cosmetics are funded by racing well and set back by racing carelessly.

Playing Together

Splatt is an online multiplayer game and requires at least two players — there is no single-player mode.
