About LIMINAL

The fog has no horizon.

LIMINAL is a first-person exploration and industrial-salvage game set in an infinite, seeded overworld. Rolling barrens become carved canyons, ancient ruins become machine fields, and a bruised-violet megacity rises out of the haze. There is no map, quest log, or trail of objective markers. You learn the world by walking it.

Plant a Root Beacon and your machines go to work. Six-legged harvesters search for salvage, cut into objects and structural foundations, and return visible cargo to the network. Send several harvesters against the same structure and they divide its perimeter between them. As support is removed, fresh fracture surfaces appear and full-height sections break free, fall under physics, settle, and remain in the world as harvestable wreckage.

Recover steel, copper, rubber, plastic, glass, stone, and intact machine components. Merge three standard harvesters into a Walking Foundry, fabricate new harvesters, deploy relays to extend the network, and build Shaft Crawlers that bore, descend into, and cover vertical excavation sites. Pick up the Root Beacon and the mobile fleet folds up to follow.

Thresholds lead away from the overworld into 47 isolated procedural realms, each with its own terrain, architecture, materials, weather, sky, sound, and physical character. Cross into flooded museums, abandoned malls, impossible pools, black forests, lunar offices, snowbound stations, cloud cities, and places that resist easy description.

The same seed recreates the same land, but the world is not frozen. Terrain remains fixed while structures can return in different forms when their footprints are revisited. Fog banks travel, light moves, small animals react to your presence, and the machines continue their work.

Four cathedral realms contain fully playable pipe organs with two manuals, pedals, sixteen drawstops, a working swell box, and 117 playable keys. They are not minigames or menus. They are instruments left inside the world.
