Demeter is set in an alternate version of Earth where history was reshaped in the early 19th century. After being exiled to Elba, Napoleon struck a pact with the Great Cthulhu, returned to Europe, and with the help of Deep Ones and steam-powered technology won the campaign, and destroyed the armies of the Seventh Coalition during the Waterloo Slaughter.

Mutual invisibility

Both teams exist on two planes of existence, as the monster resides in the ghostly world, only able to materialize for a limited time. The monster needs to utilize his skills to track and defeat heroes, while heroes have to use their toolkit to get a warning ahead of the monster's attack.
