Hazardous Employment is a darkly comedic fantasy guild-management roguelite where every contract is dangerous, every adventurer is replaceable, and payroll is somehow still your problem.

You are not the hero.

You are the person responsible for hiring the heroes, assigning them to catastrophically unsafe jobs, calculating whether their survival is financially convenient, and filing the appropriate paperwork when things go wrong.

Build a roster of desperate adventurers, equip them with whatever the guild can afford, and send them on increasingly dangerous contracts. Your employees may return richer, stronger, injured, traumatized, cursed—or not at all.

Manage the Guild

Recruit adventurers with different skills, flaws, personalities, and salary expectations. Assemble teams for each contract, balance risk against reward, and try to keep the guild solvent for one more week.

A legendary warrior may be perfect for the job, but the barely qualified applicant is significantly cheaper.

Live With the Consequences

Adventurers gain experience, suffer lasting injuries, form histories, and occasionally become valuable enough that losing them would be inconvenient.

Survivors can grow into trusted veterans. Fallen employees may leave behind heirlooms, debts, paperwork, and unusually specific workplace grievances.

Each run creates new stories from the recruits you hire, the contracts you accept, and the people you should never have sent into that cave.

When the guild collapses under debt, death, or catastrophic mismanagement, the next attempt begins with new opportunities.

Unlock upgrades, preserve valuable advantages, recover heirloom equipment, and use everything you learned to make slightly more informed mistakes.
