What you actually do

Fly between the two floors of the witch's tower with your arms full. Every item quietly tells you where it lives, if you look closely: cover colors match schools of magic, seals match the symbols carved above each bay. Set it in the right spot and it slides into place with a small, satisfying click. What you fix stays fixed. Probably.
