Push the door, take a stool, and talk. Mara is behind the counter — she has opinions about the weather, the regulars, and what you should be drinking. She is not a menu tree. Whatever you say, she answers.

She remembers you.

Not a save file with your name in it. After you leave, the conversation is distilled into what she actually retained: things about you, moments worth keeping, threads left open, and a slowly shifting read on how well she knows you. Come back next week and she picks it up — including how long you were gone. Everything she remembers is visible to you, and anything you delete is gone from her head for good.

She actually tends bar.

Thirty-odd real builds behind the counter, and she knows them. Ask what goes into a sazerac and she will tell you truthfully. Ask for something bitter, or something to sip on, and she will pick something that fits. The whiskey classics are in her hands from years of practice; a drink she has made twice, you will watch her think through. What you order goes on your tab at her prices, and settling up is its own small moment.

The bar is a place, not a backdrop.

Talk out loud, if you like.

Hold a key and speak; she hears you. Drop your music into the jukebox in the corner and it plays from that corner — and she will have something to say about your taste.

It is yours.

The whole thing runs locally, the bartender included. There is no account, no server, and nothing leaves your machine. Play with the network unplugged and nothing changes.

No combat, no quests, no score, no way to lose.

Just a stool, a drink, and someone glad you came in. Some evenings that turns out to be plenty.
