YOUR DOWNLOADS FOLDER, ALREADY UNPACKED

Every archive you download needs the same three clicks: open it, extract it, delete it. unpakr does those clicks for you. It sits in the system tray, watches the folders you choose, and the moment an archive finishes downloading it is extracted next to itself and the original is sent to the Recycle Bin.

You do nothing. By the time you switch back to the window, the folder is there.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

unpakr is a watcher, not an archive manager. It does not open a window and it does not ask questions.

Watches Folders: Downloads, Desktop and Documents by default. Add or remove any folder from the tray menu.

Waits for the Download to Finish: Partial files (.part, .crdownload) are ignored until the browser is done with them.

Extracts in Place: The archive is unpacked into a folder next to it, using the 7-Zip engine bundled inside the app.

Recycles the Original: The archive goes to the Recycle Bin, never permanently deleted. If the drive has no Recycle Bin, it is moved into a folder beside the extracted files instead.

SPLIT ARCHIVES ARE TREATED AS ONE

Large downloads often arrive as numbered volumes: file.7z.001, file.7z.002, or file.part1.rar, file.part2.rar. unpakr recognises the set and waits.

Nothing happens until every volume is present.

All volumes are extracted together and recycled together.

If one volume is missing, none of them are touched.

PASSWORD-PROTECTED ARCHIVES

Add a password once in the tray menu and unpakr keeps it in its password book.

Every stored password is tested against the archive before anything is written to disk.

A wrong password never touches your files.

An archive that no stored password can open is left exactly where it is.

Passwords are never written to the log.

SAFE BY DEFAULT

Dry Run: Not ready to let it delete anything yet? Turn on dry run from the tray menu and unpakr logs exactly what it would have done, without touching a single file.

Nothing Is Permanently Deleted: Originals always go to the Recycle Bin.

Existing Files Are Never Overwritten: If a file already exists, the incoming one is renamed.

Leaves Alone What It Should: EXE, MSI, JAR, DOCX and ISO files are archives underneath, but unpacking them is never what you want. unpakr skips them deliberately.

No Internet, No Account, No Telemetry: unpakr never touches the network. Your files never leave your machine.
