About the Game

You are the proud new master of The Weary Pilgrim, a run-down tavern, kitchen and lodgings nestled deep in a remote valley. As for what happened to the old master… well… don't let that gnaw at you.

Just throw open the doors and welcome them in! The thieves, the louts, the lost souls. Your valued guests! Warm their boots on the hearth, serve them ale at the bar, dole out the charm and a nice hot plate of stew. Listen to their rumors of war, their tales of demons and the underworld, of dazzling trinkets and... sorry, did he say trinkets? And he's hiding them in his boots? Good to know.

The Weary Pilgrim is the only drinking house in the Valley of the Incarnates, where the tombs of the Gods brim with golden offerings from centuries of worship. The Divine Empire teeters on the edge of war, and the imperial guard has been disbanded — leaving the tombs vulnerable to the predations of would-be tomb robbers and bragging adventurers: your new guests.

The ale must flow. Manage your den of dissolutes by hauling barrels, pouring drinks, and restocking the cellar. Hunt and forage for ingredients, cook them up, water them down, and fill your guests’ bellies to keep them relaxed. Naturally, a plump roast chicken will keep spirits higher than a dribble of gruel.

Fresh ingredients are hard to find in this lawless corner of the world. A traveling merchant might risk a visit, but they'll charge you through the teeth for food. Keeping your guests fed means leaving your culinary comfort zone. I’m not saying rat tastes as good as beef, but it’s sure as hell cheaper.

Rumors swirl amidst the pipe smoke of The Weary Pilgrim. Eavesdrop on your guests and you’ll find yourself stealing more than just jokes. Select a promising target based on what you've learned, and burgle them while they sleep. Paw through satchels, wiggle rings from fingers, check boots for coins. Be quick, stay quiet — and look for anything that glints in the candlelight.

A new type of gold rush has begun. Tomb robbers, outlaws, mercenaries, merchants, messengers, priests, cultists, soldiers, spies... all flock to The Weary Pilgrim for hospitality. Few are who they say they are — but some may be friends. Build a tight-knit group of outcasts and work together to reveal an ancient secret, before the flames of war engulf your new-found home.
