A dirt bike and a track can mean three different evenings. You might want to work on the same jump, move through a racing career, or ride the tracks of the championship you follow. The useful starting point for motocross games on PC is what you want after the first lap.
Start with MX Bikes if bike practice and setup are the whole attraction. Its simulation focus comes with a firm limit: there is no AI racing or career mode. You supply the reason to keep riding.
For a career that gives you the next event, choose MX vs ATV Legends. For the official 2026 championship tracks and riders, choose MXGP 26. Legends also brings ATVs, UTVs and two-player split-screen; MXGP's draw here is the season itself.
Bike practice and setup
Career and local split-screen
Official 2026 season
The first split is practice versus progression. A bike simulation can fit you perfectly while leaving another rider wondering where the career menu went. Choose the structure you need before comparing how many vehicles a game advertises.
Motocross games on PC for bike practice
Choose MX Bikes when you want to return to the bike rather than advance through career events. Its setup options and simulation systems suit a practice-led choice, but you give up AI opponents and a career ladder. If those are essential, go straight to Legends.
MX Bikes describes tyre modelling, chassis flex and dynamic terrain deformation as parts of its simulation. Those are reasons to investigate it if the motorcycle itself holds your attention: its setup, its behaviour and the track underneath it. They are not a reason to assume it offers the most convincing handling of these three games.
MX Bikes
Recommendation
- Best for
- Riders who want bike setup and self-directed simulation practice.
- Why it fits
- Motorcycle simulation includes tyre modelling, chassis flex and terrain deformation, with LAN and online racing.
- Skip if
- You need AI opponents or career progression. MX Bikes has neither and remains in Early Access.
Online and LAN races provide a way to compete with other riders. They do not fill the missing solo career. For someone browsing dirt bike simulator games mainly to race through a succession of events alone, that distinction should settle the choice before the simulation feature list does.

Let a career give you the next race
Start with MX vs ATV Legends when you want riding to lead somewhere: another event, a sponsorship opportunity or a different career path. You get a broader off-road game, including ATVs and UTVs. That variety is useful if you want to switch vehicles, and less useful if you only want a bike simulation.
Career choices affect paths, sponsorships and invitational events. Legends also has Trails mode for outdoor racing. Among these dirt bike games on PC, this is the branch to explore when you want the game to organise your progress rather than leave you to make your own practice goals.
MX vs ATV Legends
Recommendation
- Best for
- A racing career, off-road vehicle variety and two-player local split-screen.
- Why it fits
- Career choices lead to different paths and sponsorship opportunities, with bikes, ATVs, UTVs and Trails mode.
- Skip if
- You want a bike-only setup sandbox or the official MXGP 2026 championship.
The split-screen option is a concrete reason to choose Legends if your next race is with someone beside you. Legends' seasonal track and vehicle packs are separate from its base game, so a pack advertised beside the game should not become part of your expected starting contents.

Follow the official 2026 MXGP season
Choose MXGP 26 if familiar championship tracks and riders are the reason you want to race. It is the official 2026 game, released on October 1, 2026. The tradeoff is committing to that season-focused choice rather than choosing Legends for mixed vehicles or MX Bikes for self-directed practice.
A current roster matters when you want to recognise the championship you're following. It matters much less when your real aim is improving one jump or finding a local race with a friend. MXGP 26 earns its place here through its official tracks and riders; the year in its title does not establish better handling than the other picks.
MXGP 26
Recommendation
- Best for
- Riders who want the official 2026 championship tracks and riders.
- Why it fits
- The current official MXGP game centres on the 2026 championship and lists single-player and online PvP.
- Skip if
- Your deciding requirement is Legends' local split-screen or MX Bikes' practice-and-setup focus.
Start with the MXGP 26 page when that season identity is enough to make the decision. An older MXGP title mentioned in a discussion is a different year's game, so it cannot answer a request for the 2026 championship.

Avoid choosing by “simulator” or the newest year
If you want a solo career, choose Legends before being drawn in by MX Bikes' simulation description. If you follow the current championship, choose MXGP 26 before treating any MXGP title as interchangeable. The wrong default is letting a familiar label settle a mode requirement.
MX Bikes is the clearest trap for career-minded riders: a single-player listing does not mean AI opponents or career events. Conversely, Legends' larger mix of vehicles does not automatically help a player who wants to concentrate on motorcycle setup. Decide which missing feature would send you back to Steam tomorrow.
Choose your first click
For motocross games on Steam, start with the activity you would willingly repeat. Pick MX Bikes for practice, Legends for a career or a local rival, and MXGP 26 for the official season. That is a more useful commitment than trying to rank three games built around different reasons to ride.
Choose self-directed simulation practice; there is no AI racing or career mode.
Choose career paths, mixed off-road vehicles and two-player split-screen.
Choose the current official season rather than an older annual title.
Still undecided? Open MX Bikes first if repeating a lap sounds rewarding on its own. If you need the game to give that lap a place in a career, make MX vs ATV Legends your first click instead.
